From my first consultation with Mr Rajaratnam I absolutely knew that I was in the BEST hands. Mr Rajaratnam listened to me and, whilst I took my time to decide to go ahead with my knee replacement surgery, I would never have considered having anyone else do it. His whole team is so caring and I truly believe that their are combined skills are the best there are.

I feel very fortunate to have seen Sam, he was extremely professional and caring. I needed a total knee replacement and the whole process was seamless, the surgery was very straightforward and I was up and walking within a few hours. Sam recommended a Physiotherapist close to my home to save too much travelling. Within four weeks I discarded my crutches and was walking 1/2 mile a day. I must also praise Sam’s anaesthetist, Barry. I always have severe nausea and sickness after anaesthetic but Barry was able to suggest alternatives which prevented this. I am very grateful. The whole team were very friendly and professional and I would thoroughly recommend the team and the Horder Centre.

I was a relatively young knee patient and full of anxiety about a knee replacement. Sam completely put my mind at rest and brought his decades of experience specifically to my treatment. He was such an easy person to talk to and his team were able to cater for my specific clinical needs and logistics of travelling from overseas. Sam outlined the procedure to me but more importantly helped me with ethos of his approach to knee surgery. This focussed on the right surgical procedure for me with tailored and effective pain relief to support the pathway to a rapid mobilisation and progress to the 'forgotten knee replacement'' My experiences left me mobile on crutches after a few hours back in my room. Barry, (Sam's long standing Anaesthetist) used his decades of experience to deploy the right pain relief that left me consistently comfortable. After physio help I was discharged after three days without pain and requiring minimum support from crutches. After one week in specialist rehabilitation at the Clavadel Centre, guided by Sam and team I had a 120degree bend and was able to walk largely unaided. After visits to see Christine, Sam’s clinical nurse specialist and Richard one of Sam’s physio, I was flying home after another week ! Now after seven weeks of steady and incremental progress I am now back at work and fully mobile and focussing on building my strength back up. This was a fantastic outcome for me and was entirely down to the tailored pathway and team that Sam has developed. This showed me that knee replacements are not all the same and that Sam's specialised team approach delivers the best possible outcomes. I would recommend Sam and his team for anybody contemplating a knee replacement.
